Wednesday, 16 July 2008 - Apostolic Journey to Sydney on the Occasion of the 23rd World Youth Day - Armenian Catholic Patriarchate

Armenian Catholic Youth day
on 13 July 2008

His Eminence Archbishop Bedros Miriatian will be in Sydney for the World Youth day Celebrations. His Eminence will also con celebrate a special Holy Mass which will be dedicated to the Armenian Catholic Youth of the world.

YOUTH CLUB - To join please contact either: Mrs Zabel Bardakjian or Father Basil Sousanian

February 2008 - see Newsletter for more details

First Holy Communion - The 2008 first Holy Communion ceremony and mass will be held in April. Fr Parsegh has already commenced preparing the young so that they fully understand the meaning of the most holy sacrament, and so that they become worthy to receive the body and blood of Jesus our Saviour.

Holy Mass in English - Yes, Fr. Parsegh and his Church Council have decided to introduce Holy Mass in the English Language in our Parish.

Starting March 9th the Holy mass will said in the English language, that is every second Sunday of the month. This decision has been taken to ensure that our many young boys and girls who are not conversant in the Armenian language, can still attend Mass (in the Armenian rite with some beautiful traditional hymns), in our church.  We cannot stress the importance of young blood in our church; the young are the future for our Parish and Church, without them we are doomed, there will be no one around to take over from the old generation, and if we as parents cannot get the message across to them, then let us ask ourselves, who will?

So please remember the date and let us pray to our Lord, to make the young hear our call.

Sunday School - With great pleasure, we announce the commencement of our Sunday school for Kiddies; albeit in small numbers but we are confident the numbers will grow in due course; those who have missed our previous announcements can contact Fr. Parsegh to enrol in these classes; it is a great opportunity to introduce our young to the Armenian language, religion and other activities. As we have mentioned in our previous bulletins, the classes will be given during Holy Mass, which means that the parents can attend Mass while their children are being taught language and religion.  So for your children’s sake and our community’s sake do not neglect this opportunity, because these children are our future without them the future of our parish and community is indeed grim and its long-term survival would be seriously in doubt.

Sunday school
Sunday 9th December we will commence the Sunday school classes for children between 6- 12 years old.

The classes will be given in the church hall whilst the Holy mass is being said. All our parishioners and friends are welcome to bring their children within the abovementioned age group.

This is a great opportunity for us to saw the seeds of the Armenian culture and religion in our young. Our children are our investment for the future.

Thank you for the volunteer teaching staff - Mr & Mrs Robert Hazari and Miss Laura Baghdisar, for their kind and generous spirit.

To see the various big organizations and Churches “including our Church” in Sydney working together under the one umbrella, warms the heart and it is indeed something to be proud of. This is a step forward and a step in the right direction.
The purpose of the Fund is to Help Armenia by initiating particular projects in Armenia. These projects, when completed, will be financed and paid for by the abovementioned Fund. We all know that Armenia  needs all the help we can give her.

Light the Night
Light the NightOn the eve of April 24th, we encourage you to "Light the Night" by lighting a candle through the night of the 23rd and into the morning of the 24th, in remembrance of the 1.5 million souls that fell victim to the annihilation machine of the Ottoman Empire. Each lit candle placed on the window sill will represent a soul lost throughout the years of 1915 and 1923.
Together, lets "Light the Night", lets vow to remember, to never forget, and to pursue justice and peace for all humanity.
